Past:

Hisao's story starts with that of his mother, Shirinji Tsuyua, who was a normal middle-class Japanese girl. At the time she was 22, her father had died and her mother lived with Tsuyua's older brother Ichirou (一郎) in a house in the city next to where she lived, together with his wife and their one-year-old child. Tsuyua lived in a cheap flat in a big city. She didn't have a very high income, but she could live off it, as her job as shop assistant in a department store paid enough for the commodities. She would visit her family’s house every other weekend to still keep contact with the bullet train, but her life was quite the boring thing for the rest. She did not have that many friends she kept contact with more than once a month, nor did she exchange more than a polite “good morning” and “how are you?” with her neighbors, as they were all quite busy people, working long shifts in offices and getting home late. But there was a break in the normal situation as soon as one day, she met a male named Hadraniel. This man’s full name was Hadraniel Paschar Aoidaeni-Tsuki, and he was only in Japan because he was sent down there for business. ‘Business’ here would be the spreading of the divine Spirit, as Hadraniel was a full blood angel. Mingling with the normal human beings, it was not so obvious that he was an angel, but he felt this very human emotion as soon as he had set his eye on Tsuyua: love. Hadraniel fell in love with the girl and sought reasons to return to Japan a few times and meet her again.

Even though Hadraniel approached her and did as much effort as he could to get her to like him more than just like a friend, it was not working out for him. At the same time, she was also noticing that he was not like a usual guy: he left no telephone number, he always seemed to know where she was, he never had anything with him but the money to pay bills in restaurants and such. It rang a bell, even though Tsuyua had no slight idea what kind of gravity the situation actually had. When she started asking Hadraniel a few questions every now and then, that he had trouble answering, he realized that she – being not stupid – would at some point figure what he was, or at least tell it on to someone who would maybe figure. As it was a great fear of his that the heavens would find out about his love for a human creature, he wanted to lock her away far from where the angels visited most (which, obviously, would be the most crowded places). He built her a home in the middle of nowhere, that she could not leave, and where he would provide her of everything that she needed to survive. He however told her the true state of affairs – that he was an angel and that he had fallen in love with her. He begged her to fall in love with him, too, even though he was painfully aware that this was an impossible request to be completed consciously. On top of that, Tsuyua was shocked by his actions – she was kidnapped, so logically – and even more so by hearing the truth. She would start off thinking this was just a temporary thing, but as time passed, it more and more started to seem like he was going to keep her there forever.

In the meantime, it had been two years since they first met, and several months since Tsuyua had been captured in that house. She was starting to get sick of it, while Hadraniel on the other hand was piling up frustrations, bit by bit, about the fact that none of his actions had seemed to work. He was blinded by love and seemed to not realize the consequences of what he had done to Tsuyua. When Tsuyua had been in the house for about a year or two, desperately begging to get out there, because the people at her job and her family would be insanely worried about her, Hadraniel made it worse. His love had grown and turned into a feeling of desire and lust at the same time too. At that time when he visited Tsuyua, he was unable to keep his cool and violated her. It became the first of a series of similar actions that made Tsuyua feel very bad and angry about him. She shouted at him many times that it was not a good way to get her to fall in love with him, but it did not seem to have effect. Finding out that she was pregnant, Hadraniel eventually got hit with reality that what he did only hurt his much beloved. He put her to sleep. In the time she was sleeping, her memories to what happened would be softened, so that it would hurt less but still allowed her to know about it. At the same time, the angel would entirely rebuild the house and lay a path to a village that was a few miles away, making the villagers think it had always been there. He would wake her up only a month later, to ask her to forgive him. Even though her memories had been faded, she said she couldn’t do it instantly, asking Hadraniel to give her time and to return to heaven, which he did.

Adrian Kaspar Nacht was born on the 2nd of May, 1974. His parents both lived a bit outside Münster at that time and already had one daughter, Jasmine Lora Nacht, who was born on the 15th of November, 1970. Adrian’s father Anders was a pianist and composer who lived for the most part off his music. His mother Emilie was a secretary mostly with fixed hours. When Adrian was only young, difficulties in his parents’ marriage began to occur. They did not agree as much as they used to, and Emilie regularly stayed at work to do work extra hours, while Anders on the other hand often was away during the weekend to concerts and to part-time teach children music. The by that time ten year old Jasmine was the first one to actually understand after her mother had been inviting an administrative worker over during the weekend. The man in question, Jonas Karlsen, was a half-Norwegian who had moved from Berlin to Münster recently and who was a single man of five years younger than Emilie, but who worked at the same place as she did.

While Adrian, maybe just five years old, did not really understand the situation, his older sister was in the middle of it, torn in two because of guilt: either she had to hide this from her father Anders, or she had to tell him this behind her mother’s back, to which there was always the chance that she would not even be believed. In the first half year, there was a time Emilie and Jonas were almost caught, as Jasmine knocked on their door to indicate that her father had come home, and the man rushed out through the back door. The second time something similar happened, Jasmine was sick and unable to hear her dad come home in time, let alone warn the couple. Anders knocked a Jonas out with a chair and was shouting, saying that he couldn’t take what she did and that a divorce would be coming soon. Emilie, who had locked herself up on the other side of the door, called the police and an ambulance upon her husband. Jonas wasn’t hurt badly, but Anders would be taken into prison for a night. The doctor who had come over to check upon Jonas, also went to Jasmine. Stating that her illness was more grave than first suspected, she was brought to the hospital.

The next months were a hell for the couple Nacht, and Adrian was often brought to his grandmother. After the series of tests she had to undergo, Jasmine was diagnosed with leukemia, and had to undergo chemo treatment. Anders and Emilie had to go from prison to court, and week after week to the hospital. The two discussed a lot indoors, deciding to not divorce after all for the sake of their children, even though at the same time, the stress in the household increased. Anders started drinking and going out late in the evening. Emilie needed sleeping medication to have a decent night’s rest, even then to be tired all day. Adrian started developing a fear for the dark and, mainly because he could not be left alone, often sat long hours in the hospital rooms with either one of his parents: an experience that would influence him later on. Even though there was a time that Jasmine was seemingly become better and better, her condition all of a sudden went strongly downhill just when she was about declared healthy again. She passed away when her little brother was almost nine, to which both parents got into a depression. Emilie ate only half as much and barely slept, Anders started drinking more and more often than before. The two lived next to each other in house, not talking but not discussing or fighting either. As Anders was arrested twice in one month for walking over street at night drunk, Adrian’s grades at school were sinking without his parents’ notice. At the night before Adrian’s ninth birthday, his father got in a train accident – as he had been drunk at the time of death, it was unsure whether this was an actual accident or a suicide as a result of his depression.

On the upside of this sad story, this was when the building-up of a new life started. Adrian had not yet done bad enough to fail his year, and the next year was when Emilie got back to her senses enough to realize that she needed to get back on track for Adrian’s sake. With the help of her own mother and a psychologist, she changed jobs. Since his mother and grandmother were now better examples, Adrian started becoming slowly more lively again. He was still a rather quiet and average kid at school. It was only around the age of fifteen (which was around the time his grandmother died) that he started reflecting on the past years. He had created himself the imago of a dreamer and kind, rather sensitive person, but could become cool and resolutely decisive when it really mattered. Adrian, probably also because of his life experience and growing up without a real father, became serious and mature fairly early. Unlike many other teenagers, he never had any short relationships, as he picked his partners with care. At the age of eighteen, he had started studying science and medicine, which he took very serious – he and his mother both paid half of the entrance fee and costs for the university.

When Adrian was nineteen, he figured out that he had bisexual tendencies – an outcome that his mother initially had a small issue with, but not for long. He got into a year-long relationship with his first male partner – who would for many years remain his only as well. Adrian still took his studying very serious, and graduated from university in 1999 (at age 25), to which he was almost instantly invited in a research facility in Berlin, as they had seen his talent. This faculty was the main base of the World-Wide Scientific Center, mostly simply known as the SC. This facility being barely known by the public, it however was connected to other (not always as unknown) scientific centers as well as it had a great influence throughout the world. Adrian got recruited into the medicine part of the SC and bought for this reason in 2000 a small apartment in Berlin, where he for a while lived with his girlfriend, Karen Müller, whom he started dating in 2002. Their relationship would however take a great turn when the most important event of Adrian’s personal life happened, at the end of 2004.

On November 29th of 2004, an explosion happened in one of the buildings of the SC in Berlin, right next to the one where Adrian was working. The building was being evacuated, but the people around the area of explosion in question were hard to reach. Adrian took the personal task on himself to go help out those still trapped in this place – two lives were successfully saved, though he was not in time for a third. An after-explosion caught Adrian in the flames as he was on his way to a third victim, and his life suddenly was in danger. The people of the Robotic-Humanoid Development, whose faculty had remained intact, were present and offered to save his life as the other instances were on their way, but could not be there in time. Adrian agreed to this, and was fixed by replacing the damaged body parts by the components the SCRHD (Scientific Center of Robotic-Humanoid Development) had created for one of their projects. This saved Adrian’s life, but he was now a cyborg and had also undergone psychological changed due to damage to his brains. Seeing as he was not entirely the same person anymore, much more cold-hearted and straight to the point, this caused Karen to break up with him in 2005. At the same time, the SC had also quit his contract, even though he still got paid quite a lot as being one of their official test subjects. Since working in their facility was considered too dangerous for him, he was requested to look for any other job. He took this chance to sell his house in Berlin to Karen and moved to Osnabrück, so that he could live closer to his mother again.

As he was no longer allowed to be a scientist in the scientific center, Adrian went to the School of the Unusual, lead by headmaster Maze of the Cross Family, to start a career in teaching. A first visit would consist of him applying for the job, when he met Scar and Arker, as he had yet to see if he was fit to be a teacher. However, at his second visit already, he would have noticed that the students at the School of the Unusual did not seem very eager to study or to attend classes. Even letting them choose the subject wouldn’t get them enthusiastic. After a few visits to the school, he walked into a building completely void of students. As he was slightly agitated by this, the only person present – the nurse – would offer him to attend a class. Adrian allowed him to choose the subject, which became “naked gym”. As Adrian suggested that Greek Olympics were originally nude and oiled, thus being able to count as the “naked gym” the nurse had requested, they were planning on going by these ancient habits. These plans were interrupted when the nurse, Arker Yukoto, freaked out about a female joining this class as well, as he was apparently shocked greatly by witnessing her naked body, even running off. Adrian apologized to the girl and got clothed again, moving off to comfort the young man who had hid in the nurse’s office. They talked shortly, and ended up kissing. This incident resulted in the actual start of their relationship.

This story takes place in London, in November of 1905. The family Raleigh had been very rich for a few generations already, and they only accumulated their wealth with every marriage and investment they did. They were the new rich, and they showed this off with their estates, pricy clothing and parties. The current Raleigh household existed of Mister and Misses Raleigh and their little daughter Adeline, who was eight years old. While the poor in the metropolis were dying, the lower class was working hard to get their jobs done in time. While the middle class was doing their best to maintain their decent status, the higher class were wasting their money on jewelry and luxury goods, to show off their wealth and in attempt to avoid gossips. Adeline was already raised like that and knew no different than to compete with the other girls over the amount of real and toy ponies she had, the beautiful dolls and other toys, the dresses and makeup she could wear, the candy she got every day, and so on. There was no need for her to hold back, as her parents could very well afford it all, and more. Adeline’s father traveled everywhere in Europe and even in America and sometimes Asia for business. Her mother did not work, but did not seem to take care of the house either. She had a few hobbies, loved organizing tea afternoons with her friends and did regularly shopping. She was the one who employed the people in the house and took care of the money. Adeline had a nanny who treated her like a little princess, and if the girl complained long enough, she was replaced – once again.

In 1905, the Raleigh family’s daily routine continued. Nicole Raleigh took a bit of a break from her friends because she didn’t feel like being around them (one had gotten a luxury residence in Italy). Instead, she went out shopping and walking in the park with her “baby doll” Adeline. They went to the clothing store to buy another fancy pink silk dress and lace gloves, to the shoe maker to have him make girl’s shoes with heels right at the spot, to the candy shop to get her lollipops and a big bag of pink marshmallows, and then to the park because Adeline’s feet started hurting. They had a picnic – sandwiches with jam, and chocolate cake – and went to the pond to feed the ducks bread after that. After that, they sat an hour in the grass in the sun, on a plaid sheet not to dirty their dresses. They were just talking (and showing off, just slightly), as Adeline was eating the candy that she had gotten. Unnoticed or just not cared about, one of the pink marshmallows rolled out of the bag, off the sheet and into the grass. The pink was not really a very camouflaging color, but the little thing was left there anyway when the Raleigh females packed their stuff together and went back home. Adeline’s mother still had to prepare for the dinner she was going to have with her husband that evening: it was a business event, which meant that important people were going to be present as well. This meant that Adeline was going to be “alone” for the entire evening, her nanny being the only person around her.

Frieden Yukoto, married his wife, Ziel’s mother, because of one reason only: he was an unacknowledged Yukoto and needed a way to become part of the family to share in their joy. To gain status in his own family, who did not know he was one of them, he married a Yukoto. His wife was a full-blood, because of which he probably gained some respect when he had seduced and dominated her. Out of the marriage of Frieden and (…), two sons were born: Jabo and Ziel. Jabo, as oldest son, instantly had Frieden’s love and care when he was born. Short after Ziel was born, however, the Yukoto family did not only find out that Frieden was one of them, but that he was even a full-blood and the son of Vid (one of the most important Yukotos, if not /the/ most important). Frieden got rid of his wife, as he had only married her for status and no longer needed her, and claimed guardianship over his two sons, even though he dumped Ziel to be raised in his whorehouse right after that. While Frieden and people in his close surrounding raised Jabo to be a strong and manly Yukoto, Ziel was raised by the whores and slaves in the other part. Frieden never actually passed by to visit him or even ask the whores how his son was doing. Jabo did come specifically to see his younger brother Ziel every once in a while, however not that often either. Also, even though he was being raised by them, as a Yukoto, Ziel was superior to the whores and slaves in his father’s place. Being there most often, he was actually in charge of the place most of the time, bossing them around.

Almost always being the most superior person in the environment, Ziel started developing an unhealthy amount of self-love. By the time that he became sexually aware, which was – as all Yukotos, certainly the full-blood – at a pretty early age, Ziel had become actively narcissistic. Living around people who had to be sexually attractive and got laid very regularly, this situation was only “worsened”. A nine-year old Ziel would already be using the stage in the whorehouse to dance sexily and strip along with the slaves without any nerves or shyness, bossing everyone around from that pedestal. He found it amusing to get the ones of his age to please him, and tried to get the same effects with them by using his black liquid. When his older brother Jabo once passed by to visit him, and caught him while doing so, he got mad, because “a real Yukoto shouldn’t only rely on the prey that just bends over when you ask them to”. (Jabo did go out to practice rape on people.) To teach his younger brother a lesson, Jabo killed Ziel’s “victim” and dragged his younger brother to one of the bedrooms at the side, there to show him “the way a real Yukoto would do it”. This was the first time Ziel was ever left in pain, and he hated his brother for it. However, it was the last time the boy would actually see Jabo, as the Yukoto curse was discovered in him not long after that. The oldest of the two brothers had been suffering from this since his birth, but it hadn’t been causing him a lot of trouble until then. Jabo’s health would start going downhill from then.
